Abstract Submission Instructions

Review Criteria and Process

All abstracts must address wetland-related issues. Presentations must be designed to share useful findings, case studies, research that connects to implementation and management, best practices, or tools relevant to state, Tribal and other wetland practitioners. Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the NAWM State/Tribal/Federal Coordination Meeting Planning Committee. The Committee is particularly interested in presentations that address one or more of the following topic areas:

    • State, Tribal, and local wetland program advancements and innovations
    • Wetland management for water infrastructure benefits
    • Implementation of nature-based solutions
    • Co-management of wetlands with agricultural, aquacultural, or silvicultural practices
    • Managing wetlands for multiple benefits, such as floodwater storage, wildlife habitat, and recreational and cultural values
    • Innovations in wetland restoration and adaptive management
    • Community-led wetland stewardship and citizen science
    • Application of novel tools, technology, and AI to wetlands management
    • Creative partnerships and stakeholder engagement
  • Abstracts may be submitted for presentations or panel discussions. Presentations must fit within a 30-minute time slot, including time for Q&A. Panel discussions will be allotted 45 or 60 minutes and should include 2-4 speakers with a range of perspectives and experiences who can provide a well-rounded conversation on a given theme. Note that NAWM may have invited guest speakers and panels, who will be subject to other specific time constraints.
  • There is limited space available on the meeting agenda, therefore not all abstracts will be selected. Selection will be based on the task of developing a relevant, robust and well-balanced meeting agenda, covering a range of key topics of interest to attendees under the umbrella of the 2027 meeting’s theme of Wetlands Are Water Security.

 Review Process:

  • Abstracts should be 300 words or less and must be submitted by Friday, November 20, 2026 for consideration. Abstracts longer than 300 words in length will not be considered.
  • All submittals will receive a response about the status of their abstract by Wednesday,
    December 2, 2026.
  • For those abstracts selected for inclusion at the meeting, a tentative date and time for each presentation or panel discussion will be sent to presenters when notified. The agenda will be finalized by March 26, 2027; however, dates and times for presentations are subject to change within the conference dates, if needed.
  • Presenters will receive a formal invitation letter with meeting details and guidelines for their presentation or panel discussion.
  • Biography information must be in narrative format; resumé format will not be accepted. (Please limit response to about 250 words or 950 characters per presenter.) Biography information can be submitted on the Abstract Form Here.

PLEASE NOTE: All accepted presenters must register for the NAWM State/Tribal/Federal Coordination Meeting. However, accepted presenters will receive NAWM's discounted speaker registration rate.
