Abstract Submission Instructions

Review Criteria and Process

All abstracts must address wetland-related issues. Presentations must be designed to share useful findings, case studies, practices or tools relevant to state, Tribal and other wetland practitioners. Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the NAWM State/Tribal/Federal Coordination Meeting Planning Committee. The Committee is particularly interested in presentations that address one or more of the following topic areas:

    • Updates on State and Tribal regulatory approaches and permitting
    • Wetland and aquatic ecosystem restoration
    • Tribal programs and wetland management
    • Integrated project funding and financing
    • Market-based approaches and incentives to conservation
    • PFAS and other emerging contaminants in wetlands management
    • Wetlands management for wildlife conservation
    • Application of tools, technology, and AI to wetlands management
    • Creative partnerships and stakeholder engagement
  • Abstracts may be submitted for presentations or panel discussions. Presentations must fit within a 30-minute time slot, including time for Q&A. Panel discussions will be allotted 45 or 60 minutes and should include 2-4 speakers with a range of perspectives and experiences who can provide a well-rounded conversation on a given theme. Note that NAWM may have invited guest speakers and panels, who will be subject to other specific time constraints.
  • There is limited space available on the meeting agenda, therefore not all abstracts will be selected. Selection will be based on the task of developing a relevant, robust and well-balanced meeting agenda, covering a range of key topics of interest to attendees under the umbrella of the 2026 meeting’s theme of Celebrating America’s Wild and Wonderful Wetlands.

 Review Process:

  • Abstracts should be 300 words or less and must be submitted by the Tuesday, September 30, 2025, deadline for consideration. Abstracts longer than 300 words in length will not be considered.
  • All submittals will receive a response about the status of their abstract by Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
  • For those abstracts selected for inclusion at the meeting, a tentative date and time for each presentation or panel discussion will be sent to presenters when notified. The agenda will be finalized on March 28, 2026; however, dates and times for presentations are subject to change within the conference dates, if needed.
  • Presenters will receive a formal invitation letter with meeting details and guidelines for their presentation or panel discussion.
  • Biography information must be in narrative format; resumé format will not be accepted. (Please limit response to about 250 words or 950 characters per presenter.) Biography information can be submitted on the Abstract Form Here.

PLEASE NOTE: All accepted presenters must register for the NAWM State/Tribal/Federal Coordination Meeting. However, accepted presenters will receive NAWM's discounted speaker registration rate. You must be a U.S. citizen to submit an abstract.
